1948 CJ-2A Plymouth, WI **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $16,000.

The seller claims this is an AgriJeep.  In his book Preproduction Civilian Jeeps, Frederic Coldwell makes a convincing argument that despite filing for the trademark Agrijeep, and the use of the name Agrijeep on the CJ-1, Willys Overland quickly abandoned that trademark to focus in on the trademark Jeep for CJ-2’s and CJ-2A’s.  Note: there might be some debate to this based on some of the websites I reviewed – some believe the CJ-2 is an Agrijeep as well.  While I’m not in a position to provide any input into that debate, I would still review this seller’s claim cautiously.

“Rare 1948 Agri-Jeep, power take off, 3 point hitch. Only three prototypes made. Factory aluminum plate is 2 inch x 3 inch on the frame in back”

CJ-1 was a 1944 converted MB, and to date, no one knows of the existance of this Jeep… a couple of 1944 MB’s were converted to Agri-Jeeps (CJ-2’s), and the rest were all 1945 MB conversions….only a select few received the Agri-Jeep nameplates, in bronze, and thus far less than 20 of the 30-40 still exist, of this number, less than 10 completely restored….i recently had the pleasure to make some very rare parts for 3 of them, and have the same parts on the burner for 2 more….

NO 1948 was an Agri-jeep, though many assume because it has a PTO, that it is designated such…rather a PTO’d jeep is actually a “Farm Jeep” 🙂

I figured you’d have some input on this 🙂 And I would have assumed the seller meant Farm Jeep, except that it is priced so high.

    Thx – Dave

note to self … develop better system for categorizing websites .. 🙂
