1950_cj3a_lakewoodUPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $1595.

(05/05/09) The body looks a little rough, but it runs.   It looks like a good price.

“1950 CJ3A, about 62K original miles, factory drivetrain, 4 cylinder flat-head, newer solex carburetor, rebuilt transmission and transfer case, new brakes, new tires, hasn’t left town for 30 years. Runs excellent, needs top.”

When I was in the Army in Germany in the early 1970 s and we had the M151 jeep with independent sospensiun. During one field trip we had a lot of rear differentials fail and we ran out of replacements. I moved the front differential to the rear and then, with a torch, cut out the ring and pinion gears of the bad rear differential so it could be used in the front (so we could leave the front drive shaft in so the oil would stay in the transfer case). I never thought about whether or not they were exactly interchangeable but it worked.I always wondered what happened when it was discovered that those jeeps had no guts in the front diffs.
