A “crummy” is a term for a forest worker truck, typically a “six-pack” crew cab or a suburban or van type vehicle. I think that is the intent of the owner, however this would not qualify as a crummy, in any case.

Thanks! I should have done a search on that term before jumping to conclusions. I’ll update the post.

The CL ad also shows a photo of a slide in “crew carrier” that rides on the truck. That’s probably what the owner meant by a crummy.

I’m still learning what a crummy is. It’s natural to call a ’50’s or ’60’s Chevy a suburban, like it’s ’70’s on up wagon built on a pickup truck chassis. I’ve been corrected that the early Chevy panel truck type vehicles with windows was called a crummy, not a suburban.

An International-Harvester was called a Travelall. Was a Chevy called a Carryall?

I educated many laymen about what that thing I’m driving is called. I tell them that they were simply called a Station Wagon manufactured by Willys Motor Co. Every so often I hear someone tell me that they used to own an “Overland”. That’s the only word that irks me like scratching your nails on the blackboard. (lol)

So, I got confused by that camper that is also in the Ad. I thought that rode on a different vehicle (which is why I didn’t included it in the pics above)? Or do you think they threw it on the back of the FC?

I can’t believe with all this talk that nobody has balked at the ridiculous asking price for this thing! It probably has a 4-speed being ex forest service if it really is ex forest service, but 10,500? I could pick up an original one that needs only paint for about 6k down the road from my grandparents..Granted..she started out with a ridiculous asking price like the above, but after months of no bites she got more realistic..

Yeah….I think the old lady with the one down the road from my grandparents started at about 16k a few years back….Imagine that she still has it? I don’t know why…..Just because it’s rare, doesn’t make it worth a ton of money…..

I was lost on the term ‘crummy’. It sounds like some British vehicle. I mentioned the (too) high price to Steve last night. I remember the term carryall. I’ve forgotten what it referred to though.
