This truly deserves a longer story, but the coffee shop will close soon and I need to eat & to get back on the road to Boise. A Big THANKS to Josh for alerting me to this opportunity!

Yes, tonight I bought 3 Austin Champs.  It turns out one of them is a Royal Marines RN Champ.  There are only 3 of these know in existence (it’s the gray one). You can see some big pics here.

    Wow!

Let’s see, it’s English, Lucas made the electrics for some of them, it has a five speed transmission but reverse is in the rear axle so you get five speeds backwards and it’s right hand drive. Dave, I’d have to take a zero on this deal. I’ve never had much luck with English aircraft, cars or motorcycles but I really want to wish you the best of luck.

Why did I see a speedometer showing just MPH instead of kilometers? I don’t know much about Lucas but I’ve never heard anything good about them. n My buddy has 2 Triumphs and one MGA. He hates the electronics in them. There was some joke around as to why the English drank warm beer and it was tied to Lucas made the electronics for the fridges.

I’ve read during WW 2 the Germans wouldn’t bomb the Lucas factory because they felt the Lucas company was helping the Germans.
I believe Lucas is an abbreviation of Loose Unsoldered Connections And Switches.

Wait a minute. What’s the complaint? Did Dave get these for regular use or just for “neat to have”? I sure hope it’s just light hearted joking. Sometimes the weird stuff is cool.

You did WHAT!!! Have you gone to the dark side??? You need a woman in your life mine would never let me get away with this!!!!

lol…..He has a woman in his life last I heard!….Lets see….She let him build a jeep from scratch while parting out buckets of them for parts for his ride, And now he got to drag home 3 new piles of parts! Sounds like a keeper to me!

Cool deal Dave. What are the plans for them? Restore the rare one? Build another using more modern and reliable parts?

She might be a keeper but, they an’t home yet
I want to see pictures of them things in the driveway, then tell me YOUR THE MAN!!!

I felt a disturbance in the Force.

    What craziness is upon us?

We will stick with you thru this Dave. As long as we don’t hear anything about eChamp.

p.s I bought two cars and put them behind my parents garage. They asked how long? Two weeks.

2 weeks is just long enough not to have real plans. Every time they asked I said 2 weeks.

14 years later I scrapped them.
