I spent a little time going through the IMCDB website to see how correct some of the jeep identifications were. As I was going through the different jeeps, I spotted this stainless steel flattie, something I’ve never seen in a movie. I have also never heard of the Movie “Laure”.
On the subject of old movies, there’s one I watched the other day called “To the shores of Tripoli” (1942) The only reason I watched it was all the old miltary vehicles, Power Wagons, a few Jeeps, and to my surprise I’m sure I saw a BRC at about the 1/2 hr mark. there… my Sunday afternoon movie review.
Really? I’ll have to locate that! There can’t be too many BRCs that appeared in movies.
Must have a powerful engine in this little Willys to lift the front end like that. Maybe the rear springs got re-arched?
Paul, those re-arched springs from the other ad are just torturing you, aren’t they? The backend above is riding so low I don’t think there are any springs at all in the back (or they were rearched the wrong way)
Howdy Dave! Just having fun … ya think this Jeep might be one of those rare hardtails?
I know you are … hardtails? As in hard on the tail?
Apparently this movie was in production before Pearl Harbor happened, but war was declared before it wrapped up. So maybe they had a few on hand. The main characters were played by John Payne and Maureen O’hara. The scene I saw the BRC is when Payne fakes getting hit by a truck so he can see the nurse he’s fallen for. Like I said I’m 99% sure it was a BRC but it’s a real quick glance at the front end. I’ve got a whole lot of useless stuff rattling around the old cranium, nice to let some out and relieve some pressure.

Interesting .. Not that the movie is based on this, but I read a book last year called “The Pirate Coast” that covers the first Marine expedition internationally, which was into Tripoli in the early 1800s.

I just saw this Jeep yesterday. I believe it was purchased by Rusty’s Off Road Products in Alabama.
