UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $39,000

This isn’t your every day restoration.  It won the prestigious Grand National Senior Award, from the Antique Automobile Club of America, and is the only known jeep ever to achieve this distinction.  Also, the seller is aware the price is above the normal price of the average restored jeep (so any comments apart that are not price related would be appreciated).

1946 Willys CJ-2A with rare column shift, PTO, full eight-piece canvas top,  all mechanical components new or rebuilt, meticulously restored to factory-fresh condition. AACA Grand National Senior Award, a perfect museum-quality specimen without peer. Over $45K invested. Price: $39,000.

This jeep is full of nostalgia and meaning for me. It’s similar to the jeep my grandfather bought new in Philadelphia after World War II and kept at his summer place in Maine. In the summer of 1959, when I was nine, he let me drive it up his long driveway to fetch the mail and over the blueberry fields. When he sold his place two years later, the jeep, alas, was put up for sale as well. Over the years, I’ve tried to find that exact jeep, so far in vain.

Beautiful, just beautiful! However, I would rather own a Jeep I could use and have fun with… not a show piece.

This is at least the 4th time this one has been put up for sale in the past 4 years. First asking price was $59,000.

While it IS a very nice restoration, it is NOT “Correct and original in every respect” as claimed. It has pieces of at least 2, perhaps 3 different vehicles.

I’ve been going to car shows since I was eight. Hersey and Carlisle Car shows as well as others almost every year and it always amazes me all the opinions there are from the “arm chair experts”. They walk by these unbelievably nice cars, ( the owner is usually sitting there and has spent thousands of dollars and hours on it) and make snide comments about what isn’t correct about this or that on the cars. 98% of these “experts” never did or never will actually spend any money or time fixing up one of these pieces of history. So my hat’s off to all those who DO take the time and effort to preserve automobiles! To the experts who feel the need to piss and moan about the details (often withing hearing shot of the owners) I say Where’s your project? finish it up as best you can and then if you have the stones, bring it down to a show and sit there while the rest of us verbally tare it apart! : )

By the way that is a very nice 2A. I’m glad someone took the time to make it so nice. Sure it may not be 100% correct but it sure is nice to look at and I’m glad someone took the time and money to preserve it!

Although I may partially agree with your thoughts on “pissing and moaning” , by saying “sure it may not be 100% correct……” kind of agrees with what the other comments made were trying to say I believe.

In the description it DOES state “correct and original in every respect” does it not? I think the others were just trying to address the non correct issues relating to the error of this statement. The were just doing it in a more explicit fashion than your statement that it “may not be 100% correct but….”

They were just pointing out the flaws the you obviously knew were there too by making the statement you made’

While it definately IS a nice jeep, it is also overpriced.

I would have to agree on price. The comments on here where not that bad, maybe I went off a bit, but all the nit picking and negative comments are something that bugs me often at shows, and often on forums as well. And there wasn’t a plethora of nice comments on here amongst the other comments so I guess that’s what set me off. : )
One of the not so great things about posting on the internet is the tone of a comment can be taken wrong easily.
