Roy spotted this unusual jeep. What is this?

looks like someone spent a huge amount of time narrowing a body! pretty cool stuff.
But WHY?
It actually looks like all they had to narrow was the winshield. There doesn’t appear to be much ‘body’ behind the firewall.
