Searching for a 1948 CJ-2A Named “Whiplash” in Silverdale, Wa

Jeri Norris contacted me today wondering if I could help her track down a jeep she and her husband sold in the early 1990s.

She writes, “I’m looking for a jeep we sold over 20 yrs ago. It’s a 1948 Willys flat finder. At the time it was sold it was blue with white top. On the driver’s side we had the name Bill and on the passenger side the name Jeri.  We called it Whiplash. It was powered by a V-8.  I believe she was sold to someone in silverdale WA. I’ve been trying to find her for over 15 yrs. Any help would be great. Thanks.”

So, if anyone recognizes any of this info, let me know.  Jeri and Bill jeeped in California as part of the Kangaroo 4wd Club.  They moved up to the Puget Sound area, bringing the jeep with them,  and then sold the jeep.

That is quite the jeep trail!! But, if it had been taken from a little different angle, might be easier to identify. 😉

We sold our Willys back in the early 90’s much to our regret. We were able to track it down by the s/n which I still remembered. We had a friendly police officer run the s/n thru the system and found the last registered owner. We road by the house and saw it sitting behind a garage. We bought it back and run her today.

So think hard or look for that old registration and give it a go.

Good luck looks like a nice ride.

I’m glad to own my CJ2A. Willys are the only vehicles that I’ve heard stories about owners looking to repurchase their sold treasures.

I’ve spent half a lifetime looking for my old Willys wagon that I sold in 1972. I had the serial # and filled out all the required forms from the NJ DMV. They replied it is information that is not released to the public; also, any files over 30 years old were destroyed. Even though I bought a 62 Wagon in 1998 that I remember from my childhood when it was new; I still keep looking for my old 1960 Wagon. It’s true love.

sorry to bring up an old thread. Was this jeep ever found? I recently purchased a 74 Wagoneer and it had a decal for the Kangaroo 4wd club on it. I was trying to get more information on this club if anyone has it.

    Thanks

No Problem Kenneth. As far I as I know nothing more was learned. I just did a search for more information, but didn’t learn anything more.
