Ya know, when folks advertise a car for sale, they should really know what they are talking about. This poor Jeepster is not a Phantom, it is a Phaeton. Big difference! The engine may be a Kaiser Super Sonic 6, which was the same as a Willys Lightning Six but with a Kaiser head on it, but that engine isn’t original to a 1948 Jeepster. 1948 VJ2 Jeepsters came with a 4 cylinder Go-Devil Jeep engine, 1949 and later Jeepsters had the Lightning 6 that was increased from 148 cubic inches to 161 cubic inches in late 1949. How the seller states that there are only 3,000 Jeepsters running out of 19,000 is pure speculation. There is no way to tell for sure if there are more or less. I have a database with several hundred Jeepster serial numbers in it and I find more every week.
Thanks Colin! I saw Phantom and thought, Phantom?, and then proceeded to go on autopilot (perhaps catatonic?) and forget all about it . . .
