As it happens on the web, Art found a picture posted at the Jeep Wrangler Facebook Page and posted it on the Jeep Thing page. I saw the picture and wondered where it was taken, so I reposted it. Roberto had the answer, which leads us to a post about Jeep Village.

Opened in 1947, Jeep Village operates a shop just south of Paris in Chevilly Larue and another in the South of France at Aix en Provence. The sell vintage flatties and manufacture and sell parts. The resell MD Juan tubs as well.

You can read about them on Facebook Or visit their website

If the stars align and my next book sells better, we are hoping for a 2014 eWillys trip. It will be the 90th anniversary of my grandfather’s european auto trip in 1924 (my hope is to duplicate many of the photos he and his brother took). It would be the foundation for the follow up to Finding Virginia.

Wow, I am simply amazed! And now I have a trip to Paris on my bucket list. The business they run is an absolute dream of mine..maybe someday I’ll open one in the states!

I hate to burst everyone’s bubble, but the tub manufacturing part of the business is all done in the Phillipines at MD Juan. Rommel posted the very same pictures on his website, and linked to them on one of the many discussion boards he recently joined to talk about the QC issues on the tubs and get suggestions for improvements.

How old is that picture with the shelves full of jeeps? I think I have seen that one before a while ago.

Has anyone done the conversion for the price of a new “remanufactured” MB at 29, 000 euro or whatever they use? It can’t be cheap! In the US you’d go broke trying to sell at that price nowadays.
More power to them, they are keeping a lot of jeeps going by the looks of it.
