“Up for sale is an amazing example original Land Rover Series 1 was designed by Maurice Wilks and launched by the Rover Company of Solihull on 30th April 1948. It had an 80inch wheelbase and a sturdy box section ladder-frame chassis. The open back with 3 seats in the front design was heavily influenced by the American World War. The Land Rover quickly became popular, the wheelbase was extended during the Series one production to give the vehicle a greater load capacity. Originally produced with a 1600cc Petrol engine, Land Rover replaced this with the larger 2.0 litre petrol engine which was fitted between 1951 and 1958.

1952 Land Rover, Series One, conceived by the Rover Company in 1947, during the aftermath of World War Two, a cross between a light truck and a tractor, body work is hand made, with aluminum and magnesium , known as ”Birmabright ” paint was in very short supply, so they were painted army surplus green, these 80s were far ahead of their American counterpart the Willy’s, they have a 2 liter motor with ”Siamese ” bores, and were used in the movie, ” The Gods Must Be Crazy ” only 1920 approx. were imported into the us,

*** This 1952 Land Rover is a gas model, Series One, Model 80, its an original black plate California car, no rust, excellent chassis, and alloy floor pan, its the 2 liter model, it is a true ” barn find ” its not running, and mechanical condition is unknown, it has cracks in both windshields, but easily replaceable, its a lovely old alloy body, in original paint, beautiful grill, and headlight chrome, it comes with spare wheel, fold down windshield, it will need restoring, very collectable, probably less than 50 left in the United States, if you are looking for a piece of automotive history, and a great project.

There is a huge amount of interest in these early British vehicles, as proven by the fact that Land Rover have used an 80″ Land Rover to advertise their latest Range Rover Evoque! Worthy of a place in any serious car collection!!”
