I know Willys Jeeps are high maintenance, but I’m not getting up at 4 a.m. to milk her every morning.

This one already sold. I was trying for it. Some guy who already has 5 FCs got to it before me.

Listing price was $1800. If my experience was an indication, I bet a lot of people felt they got a raw deal on this one.

I was one of the first callers and said I would buy it, I was told it was mine to buy, so I was booking shipping and a local agent. The seller wanted to get back to me with payment details and if it had an engine(hadn’t thought to check prior to listing the car). I was then eventually told they had accepted higher bids, and would let me know if I could buy it. Luckily, I was able to cancel all of my services at no cost.

    Gus,

I’m sorry to hear that! I’ve heard of that happening on Craigslist to other buyers (not just of jeeps), but it seems to be pretty rare.

I’ve learned over the years that Willys owners are the most genuine people there are. The FC-150 seller must not have been a true Willys guy. I’ve found that hot rodders are just the opposite of Willys guys. There are very few hot rodders that are not self centered and all about status and all about themselves and “their” car. I saw a guy washing his modified ’66 Mustang today for a little show ‘n shine in preparation for the big car show in town this weekend. It looked the same to me before and after he washed it. (lol)

I was asked to find a certain Jeep for a friend of a friend. After six months of searching, I finally found the unique Willys that he fits his strict criteria. The seller also promised not to sell it out from under him. We will see what happens to that when I pick it up next weekend, one week after the “phone deal” was made. I will drive 1300 miles round trip to retrieve it. I’m confident of success because the seller seems to be a genuine Willys guy that seems to care about the vehicles and that it’s going to a good home, and not about finding the highest bidder. After all, it’s a Willys, and not just a thing in the garage, right?

I’ve also learned after 35 years of buying Willys that the “Moo-moo” FC was just not meant to be for all the others searching for that elusive FC. Not to despair… I’m certain that Gus and Tiffany will find a better FC-150 that was meant for them.

Keep searching Gus and Tiff! Yours is out there somewhere. And eWillys is a great place to start your search.
