“Willys is missing surrey top canvas, but I have material and complete frame is attached. Restored in 1997 but has minor surface rust in various areas. Carbeurator on vehicle is not the original and linkage is not complete for rebuilt carb. I have original carb in box.Have not found the original oil bath air cleaner, but might still have it. Fuel filter bowl is not functional and is not connected. Might need distributor, is running rough. Less than 19000 original miles with good compression.Tires have less than 1000 miles on them.”

In discussion with seller as to the tailgate which Surreys were not supposed to have come with. He says it was on there when he bought it. Guess anything is possible with Willys when it comes to what individual Jeeps had on them for accessories or options.
Oh yeah, for what it is worth, the seller used a photo of a 1964 Surrey that belongs to friend Bruce in Iowa as a drawing card in this ad. Probably not a great move on his part, but shouldn’t have done that without Bruce’s permission.

I am hesitant to bid on any car on e-bay. Seems like better than half show up due to unpaid bid. Why should I be a successful bidder with my bid driven up by people with no intention to buy. I have seen numerous cars listed many times, almost think these people have proxy bidders in the shadows driving up bids. BTW… happy to check this surrey out for anyone serious about bidding. I “know” a lot of cars in the area. I know 3 collectors that have fleets north of 70 car, One collects American Classics in various conditions, one hordes mostly british cars (outbid me on a MGA at an estate sale, parked it in a pasture and has done nothing with it … it has sat for 12 years now). The last has Rolls Royces, Packards, Woody Convertibles, early luxury cars (from the teens), and dozens of pristine Fire Trucks from the ’20’s to ’50’s.

the painted instead of chrome rear bumper truly adds to my already existing suspicions about that tailgate though.

Tag hanging out past the fender attached to an altered tag bracket
Wrong tailight on the drivers side for a tailgate jeep
Wrong tag ‘placement’ for a tailgate jeep
Missing a tag light and tag bracket center mast on the tailgate (common and the norm for dj tailgate jeeps )
Filled in holes passenger side rear quarter (holes that are in ALL dj bodes even if they’re used or not)
Missing windshield grab handles
Filled in holes on windshield for grab handles
Motor NOT running right
Used BRUCES and others pictures without permission

Yeah, there are many things that don’t look exactly right, the biggest thing being the tailgate that Surreys didn’t have (or at least weren’t supposed to have). Right now there are 42 bids on this and the reserve hasn’t been met. Ends in about 4 hours.
Probably a dispatcher converted to a surrey.

I missed this one when it was current but agree that using Bruce’s excellent pic was a very, very bad move on the seller’s part, especially when he said nothing about the pic NOT being the jeep he was selling.
I’m very close to this Jeep… never seen at any “show” or on the street. Absolute NUT to use another Jeep’s photo… I think I wouldn’t mess with this seller unless it was a real bargain.
