Custom Truck?

Tim forwarded this ad for help. The owner doesn’t know what type of truck it is. He notes the cab is a convertible and the quality of work is good, so good it looks factory. I think it’s likely a 1960s truck that’s been modified. The rear window is small, but not shaped like early trucks.

Any jeep/willys experts out there?
Im trying to figure out what this barn find is? I’ve searched around some web sites with no luck.
It has the small rear window like an early willys, but a 1 piece windshield like a later one.
It also has a convertible roof that appears factory, but I can’t find any info on it.
If you can help, please give me a call or send me a text
Thanks for your help.”

Well I think what we have here is a Heinz 57 Jeep. It has the grille of the 55-57
series, the red side trim from about 1961-62, the one piece windshield from that same era. The dash with the exception of the additional gauges, post 1958 through 64. The top and the back of the cab from the doors back appears to be custom made. The bed is truly a custom job! Aside from a possible factory serial number, you can’t tell if this was a pickup truck or station wagon originally that was modified into this vehicle.

I’m not surprised the roll back truck bed is placarded “get cash for your junk vehicles.”

from what i can see the grille is 56 -63 vintage as i can see the telltale hole for the heater air intake in the lower right corner on pass. side
it has 1 piece windshield and the side trim piece on the door and cab that tells me it is at very least a 60-63
