1953 WILLYS M38A1 MILITARY JEEP 35,300 MILES VGC
For sale is an original 1953 Willys Military M38A1 Jeep. I obtained this Jeep from the McClure Fire Department in Ohio several years ago. It was occasionally used to plow their parking lot and was stored indoors for the most part. It still has many of the military accoutrements such as the convoy blackout marker lights, H.D. bumpers, waterproof ignition, 24 V. electrical system and illuminated high/low red dash lighting.

This Jeep runs and drives fabulously for its age. Body is in excellent shape with minimal rust / damage. See pictures. Original “F” Head Willy’s Engine starts and runs superbly. These early Jeeps are very robust, reliable and built like tanks. Suspension, steering, and brakes work well. Clutch and pressure plate were replaced last year with HD after market components. Mechanically this Jeep is very sound. Built for Off-Road conditions, the transfer case has low gearing for traversing irregular terrain. A Quick-Release Snow Plow was retrofitted some years back and works fine. Snow Plow Hydraulic DC Motor recently replaced and the Main Hydraulic Cylinder was overhauled. System was flushed and filled with premium Meyers Hydraulic Fluid. Vehicle was repainted Fire Engine Red several years ago.

Paint could be removed and vehicle could be easily restored back to its original Olive Drab configuration or it could be driven as it is and/ or used as plow as needed. Many components have been recently replaced including Engine Gaskets, Spark Plugs, Coolant, Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Oil Filter, Wheel Cylinders and much more. Both Axles and Transfer Case fluids have been replaced. All Brake Drums have been resurfaced. Chassis and Steering systems have been lubed. Fuel Tank has been flushed out. Both 12 V. Batteries replaced last year with HO 590 CCA Ever Starts. Clear Ohio Title.
Some of the many upgrades that have been done over the years:
• Recent HD Clutch and Pressure Plate
• New Master Cylinder and Rear Axle Seal
• New Electric Fuel Pump
• Recent Vinyl Soft Top with Doors
• HD Steel Roll-Bar with Overhead Floodlights
• Cab Heater
• Seats Professionally Reupholstered in Patriotic Red, White & Blue Vinyl
• Seat Belts Retrofitted for DOT Compliance for Highway use
• Recently Overhauled Carburetor
• Recently Updated Muffler and Exhaust System
• Meyer Pro-Mount E-47 Snow Plow with 6 Foot Blade
• L78-15 M+S Polyester Belted Tires with 95% Tread, plus Full Size Spare

Some of its original features include:
• Original F-134 “F” Head Hurricane Willys Engine (2.2L) and Warner T-90 Manual Transmission
• 17 Gal Fuel Tank
• 4 WD with Hi/Lo Transfer Case
• Original Factory Service Manual and Parts Diagram Book
• Black Out Marker Lights
• Factory Horn (disconnected)
• All Original Factory Manuals + Factory First Aid Kit

I have a large tote filled with extra parts such as spare oil filters, an extra head lamp bulb, ignition coil, points, distributor cap, brake shoes, fuel pump, carb rebuild kit, hydraulic DC motor, and more. “

    Hi Robert,

I haven’t seen this relisted lately. It probably sold, but if the ad reappears, I’ll drop you a note.
