“Up for auction is an unbelievably original 1965 CJ5 Tuxedo Park with 22,947 original miles. This Jeep has most of its original paint with paint code 226 and trim code of 227. The hood has been replaced due to the original hood being damaged many years ago. The replacement hood is a later style that does not have the typical early CJ water fording cover on the side and the footman loops are in the incorrect location.

This would be an easy fix however to make the Jeep correct again. The hood therefore does not have the original paint nor does the cowl because the paint was blended into the cowl to get a correct match.  The Jeep has a 134 overhead four cylinder engine with a 3 speed column shift manual transmission, factory overdrive and 2 speed transfer case.

The engine starts easily and runs smoothly. The transmission and overdrive shifts properly and the four wheel drive operates correctly. The brakes are fully operational. There is a factory heater as well as Warn lock out hubs and an original Meyer Electrolift snow plow. Although not pictured, the Meyer ST-72 snow plow is included. The floors on this Jeep are totally original as is the tool box. There has been non original carpet installed. However under the front carpet are the original Tuxedo Park ribbed floor mats. Under the floor mats and in the tool box the floor boards have surface rust and scale but no rust through. On the underside of the body there is minor surface rust but no rust through to the floor pans, supports or frame.

The worst sign of rust is at the tail lights which is shown in the photos. The soft top is not the original. It is a Kayline period style top that is in excellent condition. The front bench style seats are in excellent condition with original black pleated vinyl and original equipment seat belts that are embossed “1964”. The rear seat is an original style seat but not original to this Jeep. It is red and white vinyl that has a seat cover over top. The side bench cushions are original and have no tears or wear. There is a non original cassette radio installed in the dash.

Other unusual items include a factory ash tray and a locking glove box. All of the chrome items, front and rear chrome bumpers as well as the signature license plate light assembly are in very nice original condition. The wheels, trim rings and center caps are all original and in great shape. The spare tire is the original Goodyear Suburbanite 8.45-15. The balance of the tires are P235/75R15 mud and snow radials that have deep tread. The Tuxedo Park is a very rare vehicle in itself. To find one this original and unmolested is very unusual. We were a Chrysler Jeep dealer for many years and this CJ is a part of a small collection that we have decided to sell.
