Jeep was listed at $5500 obo back in Feb 2013 in Anza Borrego. I took for a test drive and looked it over today. Were some bubbling spots under the ridiculous pink paint here and there, but I found no major rust problems after inspecting it as closely as one could short of taking it apart – didn’t detect any bondo or collision damage. The top was in amazing condition for its age. Door latches/handles were loose and needed repair.

Brakes were said to be new shoes all the way around, but holy cow – stopping it was kind’ve scary. Definitely wouldn’t take it on the freeway anywhere with those brakes.

Steered all over the road and play in the steering wheel was unacceptable. Wouldn’t drive it more than 100 miles without completely rebuilding steering assembly.

Too bad we couldn’t come close on the deal, but was happy to see it and drive it for a short bit. The dauntless 225 is one torqued out motor and was surprisingly strong for being 40+y/o.

A LOT of play in the steering. Overall condition was fair in my opinion. I would’ve paid $12,000 happily if it at least had disc brakes in the front and didn’t slop all over the road, and motor was fresh. I would estimate at least 5k in new paint, body work, steering assembly work, and front discs to make road worthy. Tires also rubbed in front.

Anyone know of a nicely restored CJ6 with hardtop (preferably 4.2 or larger motor) in Southern California or Arizona for sale, drop me a line.

I appreciate your notes about this jeep. I don’t know of any other CJ-6s in your area at the moment.
