UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500.

How about this beautiful truck!

I am selling my 1949 Willys 2 wheel drive truck. This truck was found here in the Helena valley a few years ago. It has always been a local truck and was in totally original condition with 46,000 miles on it. Willys made very few of these. The two wheel drive was an option and four wheel drive was standard. They are very rare in this condition. I obtained it about 4 years ago and began a frame off restoration. It was finished this year in June. I did not restore it to totally original but kept it very close. Some improvements/upgrades were made.

It has the original 134 Go Devil flathead 4 cylinder engine and T90 3 speed transmission. The engine has great compression and the valves are good. I added an electronic distributor and custom header to it and it runs like a top. I removed the original oil bath filter and added a reusable K&N type. I also removed the old oil filter and added a remote setup with modern spin on filter. I replaced the original fuel pump and went electric pump and a new poly tank and modern sending unit. The 6 volt system was replaced with a 12 volt system and new alternator. I put in a brand new radiator. A new master cylinder was installed and I rebuilt the steering box with new gears and seals.

It still has original drivetrain and suspension components but all have been redone. All new bearings and seals, brakes, shocks and I added a steering stabilizer for better control.
The interior is very nice. All new stuff. New recovered seat from a Toyota pickup. The wife and I made panels for the entire interior and covered them in nice vinyl. The headliner, door panels and everything is nice and new. All interior metal was sprayed with bed liner then covered in Eastwood sound deadener and insulation. I sent the steering wheel off and had it restored and it is perfect. The wiring was all replaced with a Centech GV 16 circuit wiring harness that uses the new flat fuses. I replaced the old gauge cluster with new Dolphin gauges that all work perfectly. New carpets were installed.

I did all the body work, with a help from my son and wife. I made a custom rear bumper and the front is original. The body was completely disassembled and repaired and repainted. The paint is single phase acrylic enamel. The bed has spray on liner on it and is original steel. I added an extra spare tire mount and tire to give it symmetry. The mirrors are custom and I made the brackets for them by hand. They and the center windshield trim as well as the hood rib have all been carbon fiber dipped and look awesome. The headlights were upgraded and I put visors on them. I added custom blue turn signal/front running beehive lenses. The rear lights are 36 Ford with blue dots. All new glass and weather stripping was installed with new window felts and seals.

There is obviously much, much more to this truck but this gives you an idea of the work done. I have over a thousand pictures of this project from the day we found it to the finished project.
This truck is awesome. It runs and drives fine for what it is. Top speed is about 45. I intended on upgrading the engine/tranny with a small block and adding new front suspension but have run out of time on this one. I am not a professional, I am a hobbyist. This truck was built in my garage and not a custom shop. It is not perfect but very, very nice.

I am placing it here first, it will go on Ebay soon and this price will be the reserve. I have almost $20,000 in this truck not counting labor and have the receipts to prove it.
SERIOUS inquiries only. Don’t waste my time if you are not interested or don’t have the money.
I will only deal face to face and in CASH!

$8500 is a bargain. He may only claim to be a hobbyist but he and his wife sure do professional work. Very nice 🙂
