“I purchased this 1942 GPW Ford Army Jeep at a military swap meet in 1995. The previous owner had rebuilt the engine and told me it was very low mileage. I stripped the entire body down to the chassis and had it sand blasted. I primed and repainted the entire Jeep myself with an original Army green color. I installed new brakes, brake shoes, master cylinder, all four wheel cylinders, and a new clutch plate and disc. The transmission was rebuilt, installed a new wiring harness, and had all the seats reupholstered. I had a new top made as well. I purchased new tires at the time but they are slightly worn now. It took me approximately 1 year to rebuild the entire Jeep.

The speedometer was rebuilt when I purchased the Jeep, and as of now, it indicates 4,295 miles driven. These miles were from driving in parades and to and from car shows and various veterans’ activities.

There is a stock shovel and axe on the side of the Jeep. Both have the original manufacturers name stamped on them. There is a canvas water bucket, an original gas can, original jack, miscellaneous tools such as the tire iron and original hand pump.

This Jeep is mostly original parts. Many of the parts including bolt heads have the original script F on them. It has the original compass and gas gauge but they no longer work. All the lights are original and working.

It comes with a tow bar and I made a replica wire cutter like those used during the war to protect the driver from decapitation from wires that were stretched across the road.

I have a copy of “The Complete WW2 Military Jeep Manual” published by the United States Government Printing Office, 1947. I also have the “All-American Wonder – The Military Jeep 1941-1945 Volume One and Volume Two. These three repair manuals will go with the Jeep.

Since I fought under General George S. Patton during WWII, I painted “War Eagle” on the front of the Jeep which is what he had on his Jeep in Europe. I can provide a picture of Patton and his Jeep with me standing at attention as he drives by.”
