Looks like a pretty original CJ-5 in good shape. Seems a bit late to still have the battery box lid.

You actually get the battery box lid on the cowl to 64. They must have carried a lot of fuel. Looks like two were mounted to tailgate and the one where the spare tire goes. So much room when there’s no heater on the firewall.. Looks to be a solid cj5.
I can understand the fuel. It would be easy to wander quite a ways without gas stations in northern Arizona in the late 60s and early 70s. Especially if you were in remote areas hunting for extended periods.
Nice little jeep. Very original and complete. Original paint, (stencil on tailgate), side steps. Can’t see any rust. Wrong speedometer but that’s no biggie. This is a great jeep and with a little movement on price, a great deal…wonder what the expanded sheet metal is for under the hood? Could be an armadillo cage…
Dave, you should ask Todd about his factory mounting holes in his high hood sometime.

You mount a factory to your CJ-3B hood? Won’t that leave a dent?
Oh cripes! Eads ago, my little brother was scrutinizing over my high hood and he found 4 holes, on each side, high behind the door openings, spaced out to fit jerry can holders. I made the grave mistake of telling him that they were factory. Hey, they looked punched, not drilled! Well, I’ve never heard the end of it and now he’s gone public with it! If I ever find any flatties with holes there, I won’t be responsible for my actions! Sorry Dave, you can’t pick your family…

Thats got to be one of the nicest original looking CJ5s I’ve seen. I can’t wait to read Todd & Chris’ comments either to learn more or at the very least a good chuckle.
