“This 1954 Willys Jeep M38A1 was recently discovered in a U.S. Government Warehouse in Logan, Utah, And had been stored there since 1986 !!

It was Manufactured by Willys–Overland (MB) in 1954. Officially called by U.S. Military a Willys M38A1 or Willys MD, it was the first “round fender” Willys.

The Willys M38A1 or (MD) was built from 1952 until 1957 for the U.S. military forces and from 1958 until 1971 for export to foreign governments. The United States Marine Corps continued to order and use the M38A1 until 1971. The M38A1 was so well liked, they introduced the CJ-5 in 1955 based on its design.

Drive Train: The M38A1 used the “Hurricane” F-Head 134 I4 engine, T-90 3 speed transmission, Dana 18 transfer case, either the Dana 25 and Dana 44 rear axle.

This … Willys-Jeep was used by the U.S. Forest Service from the early 60’s until 1986, at which time it was parked in a U.S. storage facility until, recently uncovered. It still wears its U.S Forest Service paint scheme and equipment. The spare tire on the back is the original from 1954 !!

The speedometer shows 20,217 Miles, however the actual mileage is “not” documented.

The Winch on the Willys is a Hickey “Sidewinder” a popular winch in the 70’s, and now rare, appears to be in Excellent working condition and has the remote controller and original owners manual included.

Included along with the Willys are an “Original dated 1955″ Maintenance and Service Manual. Also, various operator log books and U.S. Dept of the Interior Topo maps and documents, some dated as early as 1961.

This Outstanding find Willys Jeep will need complete restoration. However, I believe with a new battery, fluid flush and tune, this Willys should fire right up.”
