UPDATE: **SOLD* Was eBay.

Never thought I’d see a wood top on a Jeepster.

“Custom 1949 Willys Jeepster front on a 1974 cj5 jeep 4 wheel drive frame, with a 4.2 6 cylinder engine.  Frame has been extended 20″.  Back end is custom wood with insulated top.  Has new parts: recent valve job, carb, brake cylinders, master cylinder and lines, starter, electric fuel pump, radiator, side mirrors, custom  wood sun visors,  electric horn.   Needs:  wiper blades and motor, turn signals, gauges connected, tires have good tread, but are old, receiver hitch not for towing, fog lights not wired.  Runs good, has clear title.  Local pick-up.  As is.  Not licensed, but can test drive in yard.”

Maybe it’s just me, but everything added to this Jeepster looks like it was done with hand tools in someone’s very dark basement. Stuff doesn’t line up, doesn’t fit properly, and has an overall design theme that is making Brooks Stevens roll over in his grave.

Removing a section of the firewall so the rear of the engine is exposed to the interior (look below the speedometer) makes me wonder what else the carpet covers.

I think this project was an alternative approach to saving a very rusted out Jeepster (just a guess) by someone with more woodworking skills than metal fabrication tools or talent. Before you pointed out the exposed engine, Paul, I was about to suggest this had a charm of its own… and perhaps it does. Maybe?

Having been a Jeepster fan and owner for more years than I can remember, I can forgive a lot of custom work done on these early Jeepsters, but I can’t get excited over any of this. Sorry Guys!
