I’n new to jeeps. Would someone tell me what makes a jeep a “Lefty”?
Hi Spar, CJ-2As built between March 3, 1948 and April 14, 1948, (serial numbers between 176061 and 185769) had the spare tire located on the driver’s side of the body and the top bow holders on the passenger side. Willys did this to accommodate some state laws (Willys Tech bulletin 48-27, dated May 25, 1948) that were eventually overturned.
Seems like a GREAT price. If it runs as good as it looks, this should sell fast IMHO. Hopefully soon to be someone’s Christmas present 🙂

For a short period of time, March, 3rd through April,14th of 1948, the Willys Overland factory switched the normal location of the spare tire mount to the driver-side which in turn necessitated the bow pockets to be moved to the passenger-side.
The serial number range was serial # range of 176,061 through 185,769 … though there were some exceptions.
