“We purchased this vintage ’49 Willys truck about 7 years ago to add to our array of classic trucks intended for full restoration. We have only driven it around on our homestead periodically during that interim, putting less than 50 miles on it.

We bought it at a high price even without body or paint work done because the previous owners had done an incredible amount of mechanical type work in that restoration process stretching from 1997 to 2005. The truck mostly sat until we bought it in 2007-8 period into the tune of about $10,000 total invested into the truck.

In the paperwork received with it there was a thick stack of receipts of work done. Like a dummy, I threw away some of them before realizing what the receipts were. I have gone through the many line items of the receipts to come up with the below list. The line items of work during the restoration process was about $8,400, but the total paid on account receipts were over $15,000, so we evidently do not have all the line item work receipts. It does appear this may have included the cost of the truck as well, but it is hard to tell. The old guy that had the work done had hardly driven the truck with low miles since the work was done according to his relative from whom we purchased the truck.

Following will be a listing of all the mechanical work done that I can find from the stack of receipts:

1) Roof mount spotlight 2) Alpine TDM-7544 AM/FM Cassette Radio
3) Radio Shack TRC 40 Channel CB Radio 4) Warn Model 8000 Electric Winch
5) Fuel Gauge Model #81448 and sending unit 6) Bulldog Model 1101 car alarm
7) Signal Stat turn signal switch 8) Electric fuel pump 9) Headlamps 10) 4 Shocks
11) Brake lines, wheel cylinders 12) Master cylinder 13) Brake Shoes 14) Brake drums
15) Radiator 16) Clutch kit 17) Flush, test fuel tank 18) Block Heater 19) Fuel block
20) Fuse block 21) Solenoid 22) 6 switches-toggle, etc. 23) Steering: drag link, rod link
24) Gauges: new cluster, speedometer head, sending units, wiring, connectors 25) Voltage regulator
26) Motor mounts 27) Transmission Mount 28) Front bumper winch mount
29) Tires-LT215/85R Wildcat All-Season 30) Rebuilt transmission 31) Rebuilt transfer case
32) Rebuild overdrive

Engine Rebuild:
01) Head: Re-surface, grind valves, valve seats, guides & springs 02) Recondition lifters
03) Block: hot tank, bore, re-bush, fit rods/pistons 04) Bearings: rods, mains, cam
05) Ignition: distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, switch 06) Fuel: rebuild carb., fuel line/filter,
07) Freeze plugs 08) Oil adapter 09) Thermostat 10) Alternator 11) Starter

In trying to retire, we have decided to put everything up for sale. Whatever does not sell, we will probably still try to get around to full restoration. We were too busy with other restoration and construction projects to ever get to restoring the Willys. In the fall a windstorm dropped a tree limb on top the cab, so now we have done almost all of that repair and may continue on with finishing the body work along with paint and finish work if it does not sell.

We are willing to entertain offers for the truck as is or with us doing additional work as we have some part-time personnel we could bring in to finish any desired portion of the restoration work at probably the best pricing a buyer could find. A tree limb fell on the cab which we have straightened and repaired, ready for final finishing touch before whomever paints the truck, be it us or the buyer.”
