1953 Truck Oroville, CA $4500

Does need a little work. Looks straight.

“This vehicle is all original to include its drive train. It has the original flat head 4 cylinder engine that runs good, and the original 3 speed transmission with two speed transfer case. It is equipped with the original military non directional style tires that are in good condition. The brakes were done a few years back and are fine. The charging system was being converted to 12 volt and needs to be completed. The truck needs to be painted and could use some rust repairs in the cab floor. The truck has a good bed with the very rare original tailgate with the Willys Overland logo. The gas tank was replaced within the last few years.

The truck is currently registered with the California DMV and has no fees due.

I am only selling this truck to free up resources for other projects I am doing. While the price is what it is, I am open to reasonable offers as well. Please contact me via email with “1953 Willys” in the subject line or call me”

Nice looking truck, I was thinking that a ’53 would have had the larger back glass. What year did the back glass size change? While I’m asking about trucks, does any one know where I can find a pic of an early ’50’s rear bumper?

According to Grover’s site (http://www.public.asu.edu/~grover/willys/id.html), you are correct. A 1953 should have a larger rear window. It’s possible this is a 1952 that was retitled 1953 when it was sold.

Here’s a good example of a 1952 with a stock bumper: http://www.ewillys.com/wp-content/uploads2/2013/12/1952-truck-knoxville-tn4.jpg Basically it’s just the rear cross member and not really a bumper. There were aftermarket bumpers available.

    Thanks David,

My wife has a ’51 that I have yet to start on, have been keeping my eye out for parts and just did not know what to look for. It has a common rear bumper so I guess I will leave it as is. It looks good on the truck.

For what it’s worth, the speedo is 1950.5 to 1951, but the four auxiliary gauges below it are 1952 to 1956.5.
