“This beautiful 1946 CJ2A Willys Jeep has been completely restored to a “daily driver” level. These vehicles are becoming very rare as most have either been destroyed or heavily modified. Few are available with the stock engine, power train and body.

1946 was the very first year a civilian “Jeep” was produced – with most parts converted directly from WWII production lines. At 70 years old, it remains a very functional and practical historical vehicle. Gearing is very low in these vehicles – they will go almost anywhere with both high and low range 4 wheel drive. The front hubs are locking/unlocking. This Willys makes an excellent “around town” driver, cruise-in and parade car, as well as a great hunting and exploring vehicle. An overdrive can easily be installed if desired (it does not currently have one). This is NOT a freeway cruising vehicle – it is a 40-45 mph driver!

This CJ2A has had a “frame off” restoration, with a complete rebuild of the engine, transmission and transfer case. Details can be provided on this work. It is in as good as, if not better condition than a new vehicle. The stock Willys L134 “Go Devil” engine powers it.

The floors, and rear bed have been completely rebuilt with heavy gauge steel, and box tubing for reinforcement (replacing the sheet metal/wood original design). The rear portion of the frame has been rebuilt using steel box tubing – providing a much stronger frame. Steps have been installed on both sides of the vehicle. The stock driver’s seat has been moved rearward about 3 inches to provide a much more comfortable ride. Seats have marine grade vinyl covers.

Safety features include an all new braking system – including a dual reservoir master cylinder and modern 11″ self adjusting drum brakes. Retractable seat belts are installed. The front and rear bumpers are heavy channel steel.

Engine rebuild includes new pistons/rings, valves, hard valve seats (for unleaded gas), all new bearings and new fuel, oil and water pumps. The drive shafts and U-joints are new, as are all seals on the axles and differentials. The engine has only about 50-100 hours of run time.

All new “modern” electrical wire has been installed, along with fuses. It maintains a 6 volt system for the starter and generator. The regulator has been adjusted to provide increased charging voltage for the 8 volt battery it runs on. (a common battery for farm equipment).

The fuel tank is non rusting poly, and all the fuel lines are new. There are 15″ M+S steel belted radials, mounted on black powder coated wheels. There is a tow bar included. A Bestop soft top is included, which can be easily changed from “safari” to full cover.

Available SEPARATELY is a custom built tilt bed trailer designed for this Willys. It has a low riding 3,500# torsion bar suspension axle, and has easily attached sides for use as a utility trailer. Loading of the Willys is a simple process of tilting the bed and driving the vehicle on. The trailer will NOT be sold without the Jeep, but the Jeep can be purchased without the trailer. The trailer is priced at $1,200.

I would be happy to discuss this vehicle by phone or Craigslist’s link. I have removed my phone contact info due to a flood of “spam” type text messages. Please contact me through Craigslist and provide a phone number I can reach you at. Thanks for your understanding on this issue.”
