I just bought it, notice the fire wall heater box, does anyone about this, is this a stock install at the factory or at the dealership, it works, along with the speed motor switch. See the heater box control assembly below the speed odometer ,does anyone know where I can get this assembly replaced, as it could use some new cables.

    Hi Mark,

I believe that is a factory installed heater, but it was likely an option. I can’t say which year that began appear in CJ-5s, but I rarely see them. There’s another example on this page: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f8/take-heater-out-not-977963/

There are some heater cables on eBay, but I couldn’t say if they are what you need or not. The guys on the earlycj5.com site can tell you more: http://www.earlycj5.com/xf_cj5/index.php

It does look like the correct factory installed heater box and assembly. My 59 is almost identical to this. The heater controls appear correct.

Thanks all for the feedback on the heater, another thing I notice is the battery box is on the firewall, vice next to the radiator, I was told this metal tray located above generator is for a pump connected by belt to the generator for a snow plow. The generator has a double pulley and there is no pump there now. Does this seem accurate as I am new to willys jeeps.
Also can you all pass me some advise on underbody rust inhibitor and costing product. The tub interior is has been painted with rino lining and the underbody rust is not bad, but I want secure from any further decay, as the paint and interior is in great shape.
