I thought it would be a great Jeep to have all your tools, torches, jacks, etc etc in to minimize walks back to the garage to get something while working on stuff out in the woods or yard. I was going to start with a good rolling and running 2a frame and make it mechanically sound and mount a Plow or Snow Scoop on front with a rear mounted PTO winch hoisting Boom on back of Jeep for a great little Utility Jeep.
Unfortunately my unfinished projects and Jeeps that need attention have got me forced to part with some of my future projects that Im never gonna have time for. This Body is very unique and definitely deserves to be restored and put to use somewhere. I think with a good rolling and running 2a or 3a frame and some work it would be a great Winter project for someone looking for a cool Willys build. My loss is going to be someones gain.

This kind of looks like the cab of a Cushman Truckster scooter mounted to a CJ3A body.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. It looks like someone narrowed it to fit on a Cushman frame, until I saw the front view. Now I see that someone modified it to fit a long toolbox along the right side. It would be interesting to see this restored by someone.

I saw some old pictures of this somewhere, can’t remember where though. It was called a “rolling toolbox” I believe and was something built originaly for the USAF. Don’t know how many but at least a couple of them was built
I agree it looks very military, especially the back of it. Possibly a service truck that got scraped when the military down sized.

If I were still in business I’d take it in a heart beat. When I started I had 62 CJ5 seats out but the drivers and loaded it to the gills with tools

Looks like a fabrication for military contract. This would have been well at home on a flightline. Doesnt look too complicated for someone with basic sheet metal tools and the space to build one or restore this one. Like a pickup, you dont have to look at it too long before coming up with all kinds of uses for it. Would love to see it restored and used. If anyone stumbles on more history or pics, please post for us.
Update on Mystery Body , Ive had a lot of various questions Id like to try and answer. The Body is located in Storrs CT . Origin of Body or person(s) responsible for the build is still quite unknown ,if anyone has any info they can email me or post it themselves on this comment section. Rumor has it and story I was told from various previous owners is that it was thought to have been put together at a Navy Shipyard somewhere by some guys with a pretty cool vision and some time on there hands obviously . I cant verify any of this for sure but I dont think it was anything Willys did as Ive never seen anything quite like it in any of my Willys Jeep literature . Who ever did it did a great job on the Utility Tool Boxes ,and cutouts for rear tail lights, very well made. With a nice rolling and running frame as a foundation and some work to the floors of this Body this thing would be a one of a kind thats for sure !!! My asking price is $1200 OBO and I think youd be hard pressed to build one like it for that . Feel free to email with any questions or offers . Ted

Hey Jordan , It ended up out on the Iowa -Minn border. A Willy’s enthusiast named Dan Devries purchased it from me and its def gone to a good home , he collects all kinds of goofy and rare FC’s and assorted Willy’s with a few of the FC’s already having utility type setups on them. Last I knew he was going to town on it and had it all mocked up on a nice rolling 2a frame , I will give him a shout and see if he can maybe post some pics

That’s a good idea. I’ll see Dan in March at the FC Roundup I will see what it would take to have him bring it to the Willys Reunion. Dan’s been very busy restoring his 3-door Alaska FC this winter, and has done some great work on that, so he probably hasn’t made too much progress on the utility body.
