This was for sale awhile back, I commented on the bumpers. Looking closely at the rear mural, I think this Jeep was used as a sprint car push start vehicle, which does explain the bumpers.

For 500 bucks, even without a drive train, what a good deal. Push bumpers were common place back in the 1950’s & 60’s. My dad’s 1950 CJ3A had a HUGE Diamond Plate steel, ( Not aluminum ) Welded to the front bumper, heavy stuff. The Jeep had been owned by the Port of Authority of NY to push stalled cars out of the Lincoln Tunnel.( #1905 painted on the hood) That’s how they used to do things back in the day when cars had REAL BUMPERS, that’s way they called them bumpers!!! If you had a plow lift, an old used tire hung from the ram gave you a nice soft damage free push. Just another Jeep tale from the MEMORY Vault.

My dad and I built this jeep in 1987 when I was in high school. The back bumper was on the front. My dad passed a few years ago and I’ve been looking for it for a long time. If anyone knows who the owner is, I’d really like to talk with them.

    Thanks,
    Kurt
