Value would depend on what’s left in the engine compartment plus how original/complete it is. I’m thinking this is late war (’45). The windscreen has the rifle mount brackets and it appears to be a composite body with embossed tool box lids (GPW style) plus round indents for the tool box latch/lock. The foot rests are GPW. Oddly I don’t see holes where the tire mount would have been, nor on the drivers front fender for the blackout drive (but could be the resolution of the picture).
If it was nearer to me, I’d HAVE TO look at it. I’m seeing over $600 in parts value alone (depending on condition when viewed up close) and that’s without seeing if anything is under that hood!

The frame horns look pretty good and the tub doesn’t look that bad.I agree with Joe it would be Nice to see what is under the hood.If it were in my neighborhood I would be looking at it.But then it would not be in this good of shape in Ohio!

And the shock mount boxes in the rear bed look perfect (not crushed like usual). This could be a great GPW restoration project for someone.

Already made contact with the guy this morning. Supposed to send me more pictures Sunday. About an hour and a half from me. Lots of the original small stuff still on it. You’re killing me with these posts Dave. I may need a place to stay if I bring this one home.

Please send my apologies to your wife, Brian. Should I send her chocolates or flowers for valentines day smooth things over?

    🙂

A friend of mine has talked to the owner and is supposed to look at it Monday because the owner will be out of town. Although missing the spare tire carrier it could be as Joe states that the picture quality is hiding the holes. It does have 2 things which are almost always missing that this GPW has, one being the metal shield behind drivers seat and also what appear to be the original windshield supports on the hood, also a plus the gauges and 3 data plates, there is no title as per the owner, it appears it was taken on a trade. Looks like a good buy depending on the engine compartment and rust content of body.

I have tried to contact the owner several times and no answer. I live nearby too and am very interested in the parts value as I am restoring a GPW. Let me know how you guy make out.

It’s already sold. Buddy of mine picked it up for the buyer yesterday. He said it was pretty nice. Lots of original stuff on it. 5 combat rims. Always my luck.

  9. Ryan

Yes I picked it up for a good friend of mine yesterday it is very original and has not rust out in the tub. It even had the original jack in the tool box. The strange thing is no bolt holes on the back wall from fuel can holder or spare tire. It has all three data plates and a birth date of 5-15-45. I could not make out the numbers on the block just yet. She looks to be a really nice jeep and was only missing the distributor cap so I have not tried to start it up yet. Like Brian said it even has five combat rims still on it. I sure wish it was mine but I just lived about an hour away and was asked to pick it up for a friend of mine, but I am going to try dam hard to get it off of him.

This is so cool: thanks for the updates Brian and Ryan. Could be the deal of the year, 2017. The 5 combat rims alone are probably worth the $1000! Let us all know “the rest of the story” as this project progresses …unless it gets parted out, in which case I couldn’t handle it 🙁
