==================================

(published feb 24) The Universal Jeep Booklet was published in 1945. A copy of it just sold on eBay for $31, which is a good price, though it has a fold through part of it. a large number of the photos were republished in different publications and as press photos.

I realized that I hadn’t published all the pages of it yet. Below are the first eleven. I’ll get the rest up tomorrow:

    Great idea! I was just contacted by someone that there’s a 1942 book of photos from the Alaska Highway. It would be fun to try to recreate a few photos, even if just tongue-in-cheek.

    I like the picture of the 2 guys with the jeep picking up crated freight at the train station. Dave, like those guys in that picture I think you should wear overalls while driving your jeep in Alaska for that classic look. And you might need them for extra warmth. Do you own a pair of overalls?

    Not to side track this thread, but I stumbled on some real early pictures of Glacier Park in a museum archive several years ago when I was working a lot near the park. We subsequently took our kids up there using a vintage road map and tried to find the exact locations in the park where they were taken. It was amazing what had changed as well as what remained the same over that time. The Alcan would have similar wonderful opportunities. I think it would add a lot to your trip.

    Lew, that’s what I was thinking. I’ve been told about a photo book from 1942, so I’m hoping to hunt that down to plan out some shots.
