“I am selling my hard to find 73 jeep commando. This is the C104 version with the longer wheel base, giving you much more storage area in the rear of the Jeep. I initially purchased to do a restoration/modification job, but took a new job that keeps me from having the time needed for it. I spent the last year collecting parts for this to get it ready to strip down and restore it.

It is a pretty solid jeep for the year with a reasonably straight body and minimal rust. It has a the stock AMC 304 V8 motor, TH400 3 speeed transmission, Dana 20 transfer case, Dana 44 rear end and Dana 30 front end both with drum brakes. This Commando is the power steering, power brakes version, so conversion to disc brakes is pretty simple and straight forward. This jeep has has the front bull nose/CJ7 front end conversion done to make it look like a traditional jeep.

Bad:
The brakes need to be adjusted and bled as it pulls to the left when braking.
The springs and shocks also need to be replaced. The previous owner did a spring over lift and the springs are shot.
Steering gear box needs rebuilt/replaced

Good:
Starts right up and runs great
Drives and shifts down the road through all gears
Transfer case and differentials work as intended with Warn locking front hubs
Solid platform to start a rebuild or trail rig

Parts included:
Spare 73 commando tub/body, initially purchase for the uncut rear fenders
3 tops: hard top, soft top, bikini top
4 inch lift leaf springs
Solid frame picked up from southern Colorado
Brand new CJ7 fenders
Spare set of doors, intended to cut into half doors

Open to possible trades of equal value. Interested in a camper or things that go boom.
Similar to: CJ6, CJ7, CJ8, Wrangler”

    Hi Elmer,

I have not seen this listed on Craigslist in a while. I suspect this sold. I’ve updated the post.
