    That sure looks like a WWII towbar and they were used on M series Willy’s probably because they fit. My first surplus Jeep came from DRMO in the late 1970’s with a tamden tow bar attached. It’s a ’51 M38 that came out of Aberdeen Proving Ground and it still wins trophies at all the car shows that I attend…….

    I believe Joe is correct. According to military parts sellers, these were used on MBs, GPWs, M-38s and M-38A1s. But, I wouldn’t call that a definitive resource. If used, I’m not sure how often they were used. It just happens that the tandem tow bars fit the bumper.
