I’ve seen a few of these extended cabs. A few years ago I came across one, but couldn’t swing it at the time. Was this a factory option? This one looks good from the pics & the one I looked at was, I thought, factory. Because it appeared to be so well done. Were there any shops that would do this kind of work back then?

    Gliii,

The extended cabs were never factory as far as I know. They sure do add some much needed room if you’re over 5’10” or so. There are some great extended cab builds on OldWillysForum.com. One clever option is to add ~4” to the B pillar section. It gives extra room inside and you can barely tell it’s not stock upon first glance.

A word to the wise! One of my buddies from Phoenix made contact with the seller, everything sounded good, he made a trip to Boise with a trailer and when he got up there, saw the truck and much of it was not done in what you would prefer to call a professional restoration. Looked good in pictures but up close, not so much. The “restoration” was done about 20 years ago. The engine was an older year unknown S-10, carbureted. The biggest problem was there was no serial number plate on the vehicle. The Idaho title showed a 1955 Willys pickup number but a later year vehicle, but no documentation to back it up. It would have required a Class 1 inspection to get it titled in AZ and that would have included a title search as well to make sure the number on the title was actually a valid number. My buddy passed on it. The seller was stuck on $11,500 and he wasn’t that familiar with the history of the truck.
