UPDATE: This was previously published in July of 2014.

This great article from the July 1947 issue of W-O Sales News highlights the use of jeeps as ice-cream distributors and as a diaper service. Companies highlighted include Better Brands Ice Cream Novelties, Swell Time Ice Cream Corporation, and Wee Folk Laundry.

Dave- thanks for putting this out for us. I can relate to the Phoenix story as my 48 Jeepster, the 49 Jeepster of Jim Sullivan and one other we are familiar with all came from Tovrea Equipment and Implement Company. Tovrea had two locations, the one in Phoenix and one in Tucson. Unfortunately, Tovrea went out of the Jeep Dealership business about 1950, with another dealer, Ray Korte Rambler- Jeep, taking over and moving the dealership from near the old stockyards about 44th St and Washington to West Van Buren street in Phoenix(the building is still standing). The Tucson location was sold to Galloway Motors on Oracle Road.
The Swell Time Ice Cream Corporation is no longer in business and this is the first I had heard of it. I will have to do some research at the library to find out more about it. The Photo was taken in front of the State Capitol, which has changed a lot since 1947!
