1963 FC-170 Louisville, KY BAT

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677

Chad shared this auction. The Bring-A-Trailer bid as of this writing is $11,500. I’m a bit floored by that bid, as the paint isn’t perfect and there are some dings in the metal.

“This 1963 Jeep Forward Control 170 (FC-170) was recently acquired by the Kentucky-based selling dealer from its previous owner in Georgia. Power comes from a 226ci Super Hurricane inline-six paired to a 3-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle had been used as a daily driver, and the prior owner installed locking hubs, a new exhaust system, auxiliary gauges, new tail lights, a new fuel tank, carburetor, air cleaner assembly, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and much more as detailed below. Three months ago, the seller also fitted new period-correct wheels and new tires, re-wired the headlights, and added a new fuel pump, spark plugs, coil, and distributor. The four-wheel-drive system is claimed to work well, and this Jeep is now being offered with a receipt for the seller’s recent service, along with a clean Kentucky title.”

Nothing surprises me on BAT. They recently had a bodged-together VW Thing that was advertised as “original” (one could see obvious replacement floors and other stuff wrong with it pretty easily). It “sold” for $30k+, which is even above Barrett-Jackson level pricing.

If you hauled wet things (?) you could throw them in the box and they would then drain, dry and then get dusty. And then maybe his piece of metal for the floor was only 8 feet long so he had to do something to fill in the last foot.

From all the reports from Barrett jackson, Mecum, & Hagerty the truck classification is doing very well. Now, if the trash truck owners would get a little more realistic.

I’ve been disheartened by the number of non running vehicles that people think are work 6000 or more. I am hoping the winter doldrums will yield to more interesting jeeps for sale soon!!

No longer made in India as well. My rig has had almost two pics a day. Something seems to be good about it. Yes it has no crumple zone, life is dangerous and exciting. Oh I forgot to mention the videos too while on the hwy doing 65.

Any vehicle is worth what “one” person is willing to pay. Finding that person is the question….More people are buying, but many findout the time and $$$ it takes to look good and drive.
