Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This brochure suggests that a company called Meyers Aircraft developed the hardtop that was eventually sold/taken-over by Sears. It makes sense that an aircraft company would make an aluminum hardtop. So, there may be a few Meyers’ made hardtops mistaken as Sears or Allstate tops.
I have a question, Meyers Aircraft, a different Co as opposed to Meyer, the Company known for steel hardtops and snowplows? I assume they are two different companies with no connection. The reason I say this is because the surname MEYER(S) are two different names. Back in Clifton NJ, Kieth Meyer was very touchy when people called him Meyers, he’d let everybody know MEYERS was a different name with a history lesson I learned well.
Yes , yes , yes , two different companies ,Meyers is in Mich. and Meyer is in Ohio . The top that people call a “Sears” top was made by Meyers and Sears sold it .

I ‘ve never heard of Meyers tops, but this posting this morning and a for sale ad in the Lancaster Farming paper just today – now I’ve heard of them. Anyone looking it’s in the. Lancaster Farming mailbox ads – full top says all is good but the glass is missing in the doors. LF does have an on-line with a search

I operate ewillys and am here in Eastern Washington (though the site is on hiatus at this time). I haven’t seen any Meyers hardtops (most of the time branded Sears or Allstate) in the PNW recently.
If you are on Facebook (lots of reasons not to be, but lots of buying and selling happening there), there’s a hardtop group and a Washington State vintage jeep group. Both groups may help you find a top.
