Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Among the items Newgren produced was a Post Hole Digger. This brochure was published in a circa 1947 Special Equipment Binder.
As with much Newgren Equipment, the post hole digger shown is a rebadge of a Roper produced item in Zanesville, Ohio. Look closely at the Model Number R-SM which indicates the Roper heritage. That modified Flathead Ford rear differential housing is the giveaway clue. I have the identical Roper version for Willys Jeep which will be For Sale, Sunday June 10, 2018 at The Great Willys Picnic in Kempton, PA. Get there between 9am and 3pm to see more Willys stuff than should be allowed and all for FREE. Seth and Bob W. do it up right.
