Did some AFB’s combine blue and olive drab colors like this?
“For sale a 1951 Willis Jeep M-38. I am selling it because I am moving out of state and have no room for it at my new house. This Jeep is restored as a Air Force Military Police vehicle from Eglan, AFB. The Jeep has new wiring, clutch, pressure plate, brakes, brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, carburetor, tires, and starter. The fuel pump on it now is not the correct pump, but the correct one is included with many other extra parts. The seats have been recovered with the original springs. The gages work sometimes erratically, The engine is a Govt. Rebuild. The attached items on the vehicle are the siren, red light, rotating mars light, and spotlight. There is period radio used by MP’s. The vehicle is being offered here and on EBAY. If you decide to buy it you will have to arrange your own transportation.”

The green on blue paint color is period correct. The vehicles would be purchased under a DOD contract, and come from the factory painted green because the vast majority would go to the US Army. If some of the vehicles went to the USAF instead, they would shoot the exterior in strata blue but leave the interior, under carriage, and engine compartment in the original green color. There isn’t a ton of USAF Willy’s left so its a common question. Hope this helps.
Even the tops and canvas? Was that also green Dean T? I am currently restoring an M100 that was painted strata blue so I assume it was used at an Air Base someplace. It appears they had a generator mounted in it at one time as there is evidence of the 4 mounting and exhaust holes. I would love to find an M38 to restore to pull it (I think I am working backwards LOL).
Chris Prince- Tops and canvas would remain od green. The USAF wouldn’t have touch them and/or personalized them and just left them in stock condition, or as received from the DOD order.
