How do you sell this without a title, and why would you buy it without the title? As soon as I’d bring it home without the paperwork, someone else would buy the title and call the cops, saying I stole it and they’ve got the paperwork proof that the vehicle is theirs.
My instant reaction was that this is illegal (and in many states this is definitely the case). However, it may be that in states where a vehicle this old doesn’t require a title, that the title doesn’t have to be sold with the vehicle.
Personally, I’d stay away from any deal where the seller is trying to sell the title apart from the jeep.
$10k without title and $12,500 with a title?! Brilliant marketing. Run away.
There isn’t titles for vehicles this old in NY. It’s has registration so in NY he’s legal. Sounds like he’s offering to go through the hassle of getting a title if someone really wants it for the sale, and charging to do so. Relax folks.

The previous version of the ad was the first time I’ve seen someone try to charge $2500 for a title (and in that original post it wasn’t mentioned that NY didn’t need a title). So, he’s clarified the ad quite a bit in this updated version.
I think I have jeeps with no titles — people used to give me jeeps — how can you turn that down ? — just give me the jeep , I don’t need paperwork — if a jeep don’t run why do you need paperwork ? — probably die of a brain tumor before I get em running anyways ..
i have jeeps left over from the 1960’s and if you don’t drive them for decades then the dmv loses track of them and you have to haul them down to the dmv office and have a cop look at them and assign a new vin number if you want to register them , what a can of worms for a rusty piece of crap ??
Guys, I am by far no jeep expert. This one looks ok for the money, body, engine compartment. Why hasn’t it sold at this price? Curious.

That’s a good question. It seems like a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the pics aren’t the best. Maybe clearer pics show some issues?
Make sure the lack of title won’t be an issue for you in your state. That might be an issue for some folks, depending on where they live.

Wait! Yes NY state will not issue a title for any vehicle before 1972 and will not require a title for a vehicle made before 1972 but it does require legal ownership papers for any vehicle .NY issues what they call a transferable registration , you must have it or you get no plates and you can not sell it . If a New Yorker buys an old jeep from another state that has a title , when he registers it , the title goes in the trash at the DMV and he gets a transferable registration .

Thanks fellas, I would like to ad this. The state of NJ would take the transferable registration to, BUT along with that the current owner would have to handwrite a bill of sale with the type of vehicle and such AND have it notorised. NJ wants both those documents to register it here.
