There must be some seriously heavy springs in the back of the truck. The weight handing over the back bumper is tremendous, and the truck isn’t showing any sign of sagging. Plus, when you dig, you’d be compressing those springs because there are no outriggers.

Not to be contrary, but there are outriggers on this… at least that’s how it looks in both photos, above. Good point about the springs, though. I’d love to own AND USE this… so cool!

I suspect the truck was actually a 1954 model, big back window but still has the small speedo and gauges underneath, but would up titled as a 1955.

EXCUSE ME , I REPAIR AND SERVICE AERIAL BUCKET LIFTS AND I’VE A SEEN QUITE FEW BUCKET TRUCKS WITH NO OUTRIGGERS — OTHER THAN THAT , I’D WALK TO COLORADO TO GET MY HANDS ON THIS !!

This is one of earliest I’ve seen. Most have been ‘56 or ‘57. Rear axle is different, unless some had this, ones I’ve seen had model 53 semi float with 15” split rims. Which in my opinion is not an adequate axle for the amount of weight it has to carry. Also different is the heater? box I’m guessing is being used as oil cooler.

that’s a FULL floating rear axle — not stock to this vehicle — I just found a Detroit locker unit for a spicer 53 — n.o.s. — oh ya — I wonder if it will break the keyways out of the 2 piece axle / hub ??

    Keith,

I haven’t seen this listed since 2018. If I see it relisted, I’ll let you know.
