   This Willys fire truck is the only one I have ever seen in a color other than red, beautiful vehicle, in my opinion, well worth the price.

   Going by the looks of the 2-way radio head and mic, it looks to be 50’s vintage Motorola tube type. The long antenna suggest VHF FM low frequency set. Cool that it works, but one would need another set to communicate with it and a even so, the FCC would be looking for you if it interferes with someone’s business band radio. Might convert to 10 meter ham band though.

   That one is sweeeeet! And well equipped, too. Not sure the radio head style is quite that old, as we had some old radios stashed from previous fire trucks (circa early 1960’s). Its funny how people mispronounce the fire pump manufacturer’s name- should be “Waterous”, not “waterless”. I wonder if they had a true clutch in the pump drive, or you had to shut the engine off to engage the front shaft assembly.

   UH , ONE MAJOR PROBLEM — ITS GREEN — LOOKS LIKE THE MEXICAN HIGHWAY PATROL IN THE 1960S — THE GREEN FLEET — THEY HAD A FLEET OF GREEN WILLYS TRUCKS TO SAVE TOURISTA ~ BROKE DOWN IN — POPOCATEPETL~ OR STINKIN MATAMOROS ~ — just searched the internet — the new version of the green fleet is the green angels , and they drive chebbies ..

   Vernon … I’d forgotten all about the green and white Patrol vehicles. I highlighted those Mexican Tourist Patrol Vehicles back in 2012: http://www.ewillys.com/2012/07/25/mexicos-tourist-patrol-service/ … All that said, I doubt this was one.
