“Restored with a few “retro” touches to upscale the original utilitarian post-war Station Wagon targeted to GI’s that came of age with the companies Jeep.

This is one of the last 400 1949 Willys produced – with the curved rear wheel wells (before they were squared off for the 1950 model year) and 1949 style gauge cluster. As such, it was originally titled as a 1950, likely coinciding with the actual sales date as was common at the time.

About the build:
First, you’ll note the Custom hand painted woodgrain and retro interior. The woodgrain finishes the faux paneling design originally incorporated by Willys.
The engine is the F-134 Hurricane OHV 4 cylinder, first introduced in the wagons in 1950 as an upgrade to the flathead 134 Go Devil. This is backed by a 3 speed manual, connected to the rare Borg Warner overdrive, which makes it into essentially a 6 speed (overdrive is enabled in every gear based on rpm and engagement of a switch under the accelerator).

Additionally, tons of new parts went into this build:

New gas tank
