“This is an all original Willys that was meticulously restored over the course of 2 years by myself. It was a frame off restoration down to every last nut and bolt. There is no bondo or fiberglass or rust on this baby. Everything works perfectly as it was originally designed to work and operate. The engine was completely rebuilt, the transfer case, the clutch all rebuilt. The electrical harness was replaced with a new exact duplicate. The exhaust is an exact duplicate of the original custom made in stainless steel.

The original carburetor was rebuilt and it starts on the coldest of winter days with the original 6 volt electrical system. The battery sits in its proper location in a case that looks like a vintage battery but actually contains a modern jell cell battery; one of the only minor alterations to the original. The battery has a turn disconnect on the cable so that when not in use I leave it hooked up to a 6 volt drip charge. Gas tank new, brakes rebuilt, E-brake works, knuckles rebuilt; front and rear bumpers attached with proper original rivets. I did not replace the original windshield but chose to re-install it after the paint.

The speedo is original reflecting the original miles. I’ve put less than 1,000 miles on it since the rebuild. The paint color is “Luzon Red” which is an original color for this model in 1949. The paint is near perfect with a few very minor pits from driving. It has never been in rain or off road since the re-build. It is the original engine that came with it in 1949. I bought the Jeep about 9 years ago from the original owner. The rear seat is the original CJ3A seat that came with it off the assembly line as are the side steps; both original seats and side steps are nearly impossible to find today. I installed an overdrive which was an original option but did not come with this car originally.

It works as it should and significantly reduces the rpm at its top speed of about 50 mph. The overdrive really does not increase its top speed, it simply reduces the rpm at top speed. I live in Boulder at 7,100’ at the top of the1,600’ climb to the top of Lee Hill Dr. This baby does it flawlessly all be it in 2nd gear. The 4×4 works and the high/low works. I however only drive it in 2×4 high. You will not find a more meticulously restored original CJ3A in near perfect condition.”
