Decent looking Jeep, valued priced, just wondering why the door is on the front seat, more trouble getting it in there than just hanging on the hinges. Again, not being critical, just asking the obvious questions.

I’m no expert, but is this a CJ5 or a M381A? It has has the cowl battery box.

@Mike, perhaps it is a marketing ploy demonstrating the removable top and door feature that even old Jeeps possess. Hahaha, yeah I’m with you; just hang it back on the hinges.

Those cowl lids were on CJ-5s through around 1963 (if I’m not mistaken on the year). They were fake. M-38A1 bodies lack the “JEEP” trademarking on the sides and have the glove box on the driver’s side (no dash shots on this jeep). As you can see, this body does have the JEEP on the sides.

Thanks Dave, good to know. I was thinking the battery location was a military thing, but being fake or nonoperational on the civilian model makes sense.
