I was going to 1968 for sure because of the side markers. Does look like it has flanged rear axle shaft. 4 cylinder is surprising. Is that a v-6 badge in front of drivers opening? Gas tank in the rear. Looks like a person could make a nice rig out of this one.
I agree, it looks ike the V6 badge. The larger parking lights appeared in 1970 if I’m not mistaken. In 1971 it appears the gas inlet was switched from the side to the back, leaving the black spot for the inlet on the side of the body.
I think Terry nailed it being a 1971.
ok , i’m the expert on 6’s — looks like a v-6 badge , yer right , big windshield , bigger front turn lights , says ” jeep ” on the tailgate , rear tank , flanged rear axle , side maker lights , late 60’s up to 71 — always consult with an expert before you jump to conclusions …
ps — I also see the yellow Kaiser jeep serial number sticker on the port side of the dashboard , my 67 six has no such beast

Awesome Jeremy,I think you got a decent rig to work with at a fair price. Terry we understand that you know that it’s a 71,but some of us like to be able to pick out the features to identify what makes it a 71 or not.

Dave, that gives me an idea. I think I could whip up a cheat sheet of changes over the years for various models, kind of like what the CJ-2A history page (https://www.thecj2apage.com/history.html) does based on serial numbers.
I know I’d find something like that useful.
Dave I think that would be a reasonable idea. Keep it fairly simple such as first year,last year. Any easy visible changes. As in the case of CJ5 when they dropped the fake battery box and hood snorkel. Parking light changes and as in the case of this 71 there were several little things that were possibly one year only items I believe.
Exactly… nothing too in-depth. And no doubt once I build it, folks will have ideas on how to correct it 🙂
