““This is a very Rare 1950 Willys CJV35/U Waterproof radio Jeep. Only 1000 of these were built in may of 1950 for the USMC. This was the only Military Contract Willys Radio Jeep between WW2 and Korea. Only a handful of these survive. These Jeeps were built on the Willys line side by side with CJ-3A’s but were upgraded at the Willys Factory for the USMC Contract to include a deep water fording kit, waterproof underhood components and other improvements that would later end up on the M-38. Included with this Jeep are many hard to find original parts. Tow Hooks, 2 Lifting Rings, Fuel Tank, Tool Box, Fording Kit, Air Cleaner, Floor Mount Generator casting, Headlight Rings, Pintle Hitch, PTO. The Jeep is running and driving and has new brakes installed. This is S/N CJV-10824. The body is all original except the Hood. The Drivetrain is all original including the V prefix engine that was only in this series of Jeeps. The Body is rough but restorable. The jeep runs, drives shifts and stops. Clean AZ Title. Ready to go to a new home. Email me a phone number and i will contact you.”

I didn’t know about these unique Jeeps until I saw one a few years ago owned by a guy visiting the Willys America Open House. I appreciated that the owner gave me a brief history lesson about these military Jeeps with a tailgate.

Everyone wants a restored one for 5500.00. I’m getting close to parting it out and making my other ones a little more rare…….

  3. Ben

Just curious if this was still for sale. I’ve posted this a couple of times but it doesn’t show up like I have

  4. Ted

Don’t threaten to part it out. That’s tacky. Not cool. We’ll take the challenge. So just do it. Need to provide original data plate pictures for a rare Jeep.

  5. Ted

The CJ-V35/U is so rare that it could be at a highly prestigious auction like Monterey where inspectors disqualify a vehicle for not having original rivets on data plate. If you have no plate all you have is a Cj3a like the claimed one that sat for sale in Texas for a long time. You can pass on a story to buyer then they sell story later or tell story to listeners. We need more than a story.

Mike is very knowledgeable about these and he does mention it does have plates to go with it.

Just to clarify, this Jeep is a Real Deal CJV-35/U it has the original s/n plate under the hood as well as the rest of the tel tale evidence of a V35. (The Data plates on this model Jeep are attached with flat head screws not rivets) The dash plates were removed by a previous owner to install a stereo and speaker, the holes and even the green paint is visible where the the plates were. (i do not have the original dash plates but do have a set of repros for sale to the buyer) I purchased this Jeep in 2010 in Provo Utah. I paid 4000.00 for it. I bought it for parts to complete my first V35. Through persistence and luck i was able to find all the parts i needed through other channels and this jeep was able to be returned to the condition it was when i bought it with improvements. I replaced all the brakes, installed 5 combat wheels and NDT tires. I installed an original fording kit and repro rear antenna bracket. The original gas tank, fording kit, generator mount, headlight rings, pintle, tool box, tow hooks, lifting rings, air cleaner, V-prefix engine, PTO, wheels and tires are worth more than the 4000.00 i am asking. The text of this ad has changed since i lowered the price. So some of the other parts i have are not included at this price. See below for the current text of the ad. For 4000.00 you get a huge head start on restoring one of these rare jeeps. For a serious buyer we can talk about the other parts i have. Anyone in the V35 world knows me and will vouch for the authenticity of this.

  9. Ted
