Very interesting piece! A thorough job on the yellow paint creating the appearance of a possible genuine Follow Me flight line Jeep. Good patina. But the first thing that jumped out at me was the Olive Drab Blue hood stencils. OD blue was from the factory on all WW2 vehicles. On the Jeep, the radio suppressor certification “S” was on the side of the cowl and was not added to the hood number until field units restenciled the hood numbers in the field – white on green, black on yellow. The mirror is of an M151 center R/V mirror, but has the same patina yellow. Would be neat to see under the hood and a rear photo. Regardless, a neat piece with some history if only personal. Will be interesting if this Jeep shows up and published at MVPA events or periodicals in the future. A green one in this condition showed up at the 07 Arkansas National convention and it was so popular, they had to rope it off!

Note also there is a small data plate painted over immediately to right of the hand brake lever. It’s not the size or placement of the post war contract rebuild plates, but would be interesting to know what it is. Anyone recognize it by size and placement? Also the military would never have painted over it.

Man someone got a smoking deal on that. I would have seriously considered it, since it is close to home for me.

I’m pretty sure this was a scam attempt. I contacted this seller 20 minutes after he posted it. I asked for more pictures (which he never sent). I then asked to see the vehicle and he told me the earliest I could see it was yesterday (12/11) any time after 1700 hours. I said ok. I then asked him to not sell the vehicle until I could look at it. The next morning I looked at his post that he marked as sold. I asked him if he sold it and he said yes. Later I get a message from him telling me to hold on because the “buyer” would only purchase it with a title (which he said he thought he had but apparently the numbers didn’t match). I asked how much the first “buyer” was paying and he told me 2500. He said he would sell it to me if he couldn’t find the title. I told him I’d pay his asking price in cash. Long story short, I asked for his address the next day multiple times (which he never gave). I began my trip to the city where he was located and he told me he got stuck at work and that he’d message me ASAP. I said ok. I waited there for 4 hours and he never messaged me. I have since sent him about 10 messages, of which he has read 8 and has not responded. I think my persistence on seeing the vehicle broke his scam into pieces.

He would never give his phone number, his address, additional pictures, failed to respond to multiple messages, and made me wait 4 hours for a message from him. Again, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam, and if I had not insisted on seeing it I’m sure he would’ve asked for me to transfer the money or something. Why else would he not sell to someone giving his asking price in cash.

Zachary, sorry to hear that! It does sounds suspicious. I haven’t heard back from anyone else. I’ll ask a friend who was going to check into it also.

David, thank you. Let me know what you find out. When I originally saw that post I thought it was too good to be true. I’m still not sure what entirely is going on. All I know is I drove part ways to his location and waited for 4 hours. My instinct of it being too good to be true was probably right. I mean… he was selling it for WAY less than what it’s worth.
