Submitted for your consideration, a little bit of horse trading, and I got this guy down to $500. Too far from me to grab it, but if you are closer, might take this under consideration, a TUX parts Jeep is hard to find.
I bought a very nice 65 Tux in Northern CA in 1975. Even with the low miles and great condition, the shift linkage was problematic. Too young to appreciate any future value, I wheeled it into the Navy Hobby Shop at NCS Stockton and a buddy and I swapped it out for a floor shift.
Barney, Your story reminds me of my dad’s old 1950 Chevy, the shift mechanism was also problematic, As a kid, I would have to jump out at every red light, pop the hood, and manually shift the linkage into neutral before the light changed to green. I got pretty good at it, less than a minute, made it a game to see how fast I could do it.
