“1942 Ford GPW Serial Number 8727, DOD 3-19-42. Early Script GPW with flat top grill. Has the first Ford frame with squared front frame horns that are in very good condition. GPW Engine Serial number GPW 12436 stuck and need rebuilding. The Jeep is title is under then engine #. The jeep has a fully transferable Bonded Title in my name. This GPW will need a full restoration has rust in typical areas like the shovel/axe area, fuel tank sump and on the passenger side step. Floors only have a couple of spots of rust through but have a significant amount of pitting. I’m not sure if that can be repaired. Surprisingly the hat channels are solid. The frame is straight but has rust through in 3 spots that will need to be repaired. As of today, one bid of $2800.00, the high cost of rust these days, as Neil Young Said; Rust Never Sleeps. Keeping Neil’s lyrics in mind, a buyer may think his $2800.00 rusty investment will increase in value as the rust turns to dust.
One day left. 4 bids, up to $3100. Could be worth it in parts… it would be a tough restoration.
Sold! Looking up old watch list items on my eBay this morning, noticed this sold for $3850 on March 8, 2020! It’d be nice to hear from the buyer, especially if they are planning to restore rather than just part out.
Hi. I bought this yesterday from a uk dealer. I can confirm it will by sympathetically restored, not split for parts. It’s a great original early VEP with tons of f stamped parts. V pleased with it. But daunted by the challenge ahead. Oh and I paid way more for it…shipping and dealer profit to be takin into account. I’d love more history on it if anyone has any. Cheers.
